Lunar Lit #14 : Hello, Aquarius Season!
High-achieving Capricorn season is behind us along with 2024. Now quirky Aquarius season wants to look forward and go against the grain.
Lunar Lit is a writer’s guide to astrology, exploring how to elevate your creative practice and connect the many threads between writing and astrology.
Let’s Talk About Aquarius Season
Look around at the world. Think about your hopes and dreams for the future. Do you feel it? The revolutionary fire flickering to life in your gut? Aquarius season wants to tease that out.
Aquarius Season 1/19 - 2/18
As ever, I’m not going to sugarcoat this Aquarius season. It’s ruled by strict and severe Saturn after all. We are also still contending with Mars retrograde in Cancer. And we can’t talk about this Aquarius season without talking about Pluto, ofc. We begin Aquarius season with a Pluto cazimi (1/21). This means the sun and Pluto will be at the exact same degree in Aquarius. Sounds like astrology technical nonsense until you think about the archetypes these things represent and then look around at what’s going on that weekend.
The sun illuminates. Pluto is about power. Pluto cazimi has potential to shine a spotlight on corruption, slimy people in power (side eye emoji). Pluto is the excavator. It pulls the muck from the bottom up. This is the weekend of the inauguration, the TikTok ban (probably), and surely other people in power will be doing messy things and, hopefully, the world will see it. For better or for worse.
I’m not trying to scare you, in fact I mean the opposite. Aquarius is the sign of the future, of hopes, dreams, and revolution. It’s the sign of swimming upstream when the current of the systems we are in push us down. It is the sign of each of us caring for each of us. Along the zodiac, Capricorn wants the rules, Aquarius questions them, and is always ready to break them when necessary. With Pluto firmly in this sign for the next 20 years, these are the themes on the collective’s mind. The generational planet in the sign of collective care (hi, gen beta Pluto in Aqua babies). We can work with this. The scene in Finding Nemo where they’re talking to the school of fish - that’s us. Small acts together make big action.
Ponder Points for Aquarius Season:
What are little things I can do to support my community?
What do I want to revolt against?
Someone I admire that stands out because they do things their own way?
What are my dreams for the future of my communities?
What are my dreams for the future of humanity?
