Lunar Lit #15: Planet Profile on Mercury
A quick rundown on the planet of communication
Lunar Lit is a writer’s guide to astrology, exploring how to elevate your creative practice and connect the many threads between writing and astrology.
As writers, the planet of communication is an important one to understand. In order to harness the power of our birth charts and lean into the individual strengths they hold, we need to get to know the planets. What their strengths and motivations are.
Mercurial Mission: Move Information Efficiently
When you think Mercury think - the brain, the mind, thoughts, language, communication and connecting ideas.
Mercury’s Superpowers
mutability
flexibility - goes with the flow
moves its way fluidly around words and situations
observation and perception
collecting and translating facts
Mercury is a neutral energy among the planets, it draws conclusions through logic and perceiving the world
The same way our brains fire off synapses and move thoughts through (truly amazing, our brains are amazing), Mercury makes connections between thoughts and people.
We all have Mercury in our chart somewhere. Mercury serves as a megaphone for the planets it interacts with and the sign it’s in. The themes in our writing we return to over and over, the way our minds are wired to write, how we approach things like revision and plotting can all connect to our Mercury sign.
Astrology can be as meaningful as you want it to be. As a writer, aka someone who takes communicating your thoughts seriously, knowing which sign Mercury lights up for you could serve as a practice of intention in your creative journey. Or simply a fun fact for validation. Either way, now you’re ready for Lunar Lit’s next series - Mind and Mercury: Writing Prompts for Decoding Your Communicative Genius
