VOLUNTEER WITH LITERARY LIBERATION!
I would love to expand the team with a few choice people! Join our CHAT (it exists and it's open to subscribers) to access the link.
Hi, writers!
I am ready to expand beyond Lit Lib Daily! Here are some areas I could use support in. If that's you, fill out our application form:
Instead of this feeling like a transactional space, I want to bring its fullest potential forward, and have it really grow into a community. I’m interested in sourcing first from our community, hence opening it up to subscribers only to start. Join us on Slack:
Where will most of this take place? On Literary Liberation’s main site, in our Slack group or via Zoom.
Community Manager/Admin Assistant – We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help nurture and moderate our online literary community. This is a flexible volunteer position requiring approximately 3-4 hours per week, which can be distributed according to your schedule.
Responsibilities:
Help moderate community discussions and ensure a welcoming environment
Welcome new members and help them get oriented
Assist with basic community maintenance (checking spam filters, addressing basic member questions)
Collaborate with other volunteer moderators via our team Slack channel
Oversee and maintain the health of our ambassador program and circle leaders
What we’re looking for:
Active participant in online literary communities
Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
Basic understanding of online community moderation
Reliable internet access and comfort with Slack and Zoom
Passion for creating inclusive literary spaces
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Background in literature, writing, or publishing
Let us know why you’re interested in this role, your previous experience with online communities, and your typical weekly availability.
Assistant Editor – Previous literary magazine or publishing experience required. Looking for 1-2 people max.
Responsibilities:
Editing and preparing submissions for publishing (lit lib daily and otherwise)
Creating bi-weekly content for the column “what she/he/they said,” where we highlight the work of an author using their own words.
Creating a weekly thread that is posted on Lit Lib (you can pitch your idea), and our quarterly ambassador welcome post.
Creating a resource list based on our pillars and working with our Admin assistant.
Work with Admin Assistant to create/update a welcome pdf as we grow that explains all of our offerings.
Lit Lib Ambassadors — Ambassadors are quarterly rotating leaders within our community who share unique content, help build a stronger community and help spread the word outside of our community. This position can be shared with up to 4 people, maximum, and you can work as a cohort.
Responsibilities:
Choose a member to spotlight twice a month (6 times total)
Offer at least one virtual gathering open to the entire community
Do a monthly welcome post for the entire community
Create content based on a specialty of yours once a month (it can be one post or a short series of posts each month)
Host three chat-only events for all members
Circle Leaders – Think of these as specialized micro communities within Literary Liberation. Circles will cover our main pillars: writing, wellness, creativity, parenthood. As long as liberatory practices and restorative methods are at the core of this work, I’m good.
Examples: someone might want to host a daily/weekly silent co-writing circle; someone might want to focus on a specific genre; someone might want to host a weekly feedback group. The idea is that this is available to the entire community on a consistent basis. Group sizes can be implemented, but this is more of a knowledge-exchange than a teacher/student dynamic. There can also be more than one thing if it is specific enough, for example we can have multiple book clubs.
Responsibilities:
Weekly check-ins at minimum
Keep a robust engagement of members
See where cross-pollination is possible (can two circles join forces and create one really special event/activity?)
Facilitate the needs of the group and communicate that to ED (Sherisa)
These are volunteer positions. As a thank you, you receive free access to Literary Liberation, and one free Lit Lib workshop a quarter.
