ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Details
Writing is listening. Too often, we are blocked from our own creativity by our habits, beliefs, or other issues. We need to remember how to excavate the creative ideas that have been laying dormant or neglected and express them on this page. This can be overwhelming, but there are concrete steps we can take to be more aware of what we want to express. This workshop will teach techniques for receiving your poems and creating a path for your intelligence to shine through.
What you will learn
You will learn the fundamental elements of poetry.
You will learn various poetic forms and their utility for conveying different ideas.
You will learn techniques for listening to yourself so that you write like yourself and trust your innate talents.
Workshop takeaways
In our busy lives, we rarely make time to prioritize ourselves. After taking this workshop, students understand that writers block is really more like stumbling around a dark room without a flashlight. We need to shine a light on what prevents us from easy flow in self expression and develop habits to navigate those challenges so that we understand the steps necessary to create the writing that truly reflects how we feel. Once these techniques become habit, it becomes easier to write regularly.
This will be a traditional writing workshop. I share examples of poetry and lecture on technique, and then students will write in class and share out for feedback from classmates and myself.
All Literary Liberation classes take place online and are accessible to students anywhere in the world. This workshop will be recorded.
