One of my favorite things to show writers in writing workshops is that nonfiction and journaling does not have to be limited to what we see in front of us. Our imaginations are infinite portals into how we can write about ourselves and our lived experiences.

Take dreamscapes for example: when we are dreaming, there are new worlds inside these spaces, there are impossible situations, the ridiculous, the strange, the lush, the weird, all of this exists in our dreams naturally.

These dream-like qualities can be applied to our body stories. Like our dreamscapes, our bodies are infinite maps of portals. Our bodies can be metaphors and myths. We can reimagine new ways to tell our life stories.
